President's Message:
If someone were to ask me to describe
in my own words Altrusa International, Inc. of Huntsville, AL, I would
reply that "This is a group of exceptional, caring women who
have pooled their talents and skills to help make a positive
difference in our local community through volunteerism and service."
I am pleased and humbled to serve as President of Altrusa during
this term.
Last year, Altrusa International, Inc.
celebrated its 90th birthday. From a small service club
started in Nashville in 1917, the organization has grown worldwide.
Our own club is 60 years old. We Altrusans have
witnessed great change in our world/community in this time. Now, we
need to remold our group to meet the ever-changing needs of the
community and our membership while upholding the high ideals and
principles of Altrusa. During this year, let us explore ways to
expand and energize our membership; advance our knowledge; continue
our community service and focus on literacy projects.
